Sylvia Lasfargeas has been an attorney since 1998 and is a former First Secretary of the Conference of the Bar at the Court of Cassation and the Council of State. She holds a degree from the University Center for European Community Studies (Paris I) (1993), a postgraduate degree (DEA) in General Private Law (Paris I, supervised by Prof. J. GHESTIN) (1994), a postgraduate degree (DEA) in Comparative Public Law of European States (Paris I, supervised by Prof. F. MODERNE) (1995), and a diploma from the Training Institute for Attorneys at the Court of Cassation and the Council of State (2008).

After spending many years handling litigation involving violations of fundamental rights (infringements on individual liberties, freedom of expression, and freedom of movement) on behalf of attorneys at the Court of Cassation and the Council of State, Sylvia Lasfargeas co-founded the firm VOLTA avocats in 2010.

Sylvia’s practice is primarily focused on litigation, with a main emphasis on labor law (representing employees and unions), criminal law, and media and press law.

As a member of the ADDE, she also provides legal defense for numerous foreign nationals.
